In collaboration with the Scène nationale d’Orléans.
Performance for 17 dancers.
any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones zooms in on the idea of stopping as an act of resistance and rebellion. The performance mainly looks at the moments when someone - or the group as a whole - goes against the flow, stands still, or retreats to the margins. The withdrawal from the maelstrom as an act of rebellion. In it, certain forms of progress - and their speed - are questioned.

Jan Martens
is nurtured by the belief that each body has something to say. His work is a sanctuary in which the notion of time becomes tangible again and in which there is room for observation and emotion as well as reflection. To achieve this result he creates not so much a movement language of his own, but shapes and reuses existing idioms in a different context so that new ideas emerge. In each new work he tries to redraw the relation between public and performer. Over the years, Jan created shows like Sweat Baby Sweat (2011), Victor (2013), The Dog Days Are Over (2014), The Common People (2016), Rule Of Three (2017), Passing The Bechdel Test (2018 — with fABULEUS) and lostmovements (2019 — with Marc Vanrunxt).
