CommUne Utopie is an interactive choreographic project for three performers, engaging young audiences at the very heart of the idea of utopia. It aims at directly introducing children to performance and contemporary dance, sharing with them the open, participatory, joyful and exhilarating art of movement. This future creation focuses on passing on the approach of the American choreographer Anna Halprin, who has been exploring questions of coming together and multidisciplinary creation since the 1960s. Anne Collod will incorporate the children, participating actively on stage at key moments of the piece.

Anne Collod
Dancer and choreographer, with degrees in biology and environmental studies as well, Anne Collod performed with various choreographers before devoting herself to the recreation of choreographic works from the beginning of the 20th century with the Albrecht Knust Quartet, which she co-founded in 1993. Continuing this project of reinterpreting works with the theme of “group utopias” within “association …& alters” that she founded in 2005, she had a decisive encounter with the American choreographer Anna Halprin, a pioneer of post-modern dance. In 2008, in consultation with Halprin, Anne Collod recreated Halprin’s seminal 1965 work Parades & Changes, receiving a Bessie Award in 2009. In 2011 followed “Parades and changes, replay in expansion”, and in 2016 the re-creation of Anna Halprin’s “Blank Placard” dance, an urban performance inspired by the protest movements of the 1960s. In 2014, Anne Collod premiered Parlement des invisibles, the result of her research on dances of death in Mexico and Japan, and in 2017 Exposure, an immersive in-situ performance for one female performance artist and an industrial energy production site. For the 2020-2021 season, she is preparing a performance for young audiences entitled Commune Utopia. Anne Collod also teaches and has trained in the Feldenkraïs method.
