Performance

Vaincre à Rome by Thierry Falvisaner with Timothé Ballo
3 and 4 February 2022
at the Bouillon, cultural centre of the University of Orléans

Timothé Ballo
Although he began his training as an actor, Timothé Ballo very quickly turned to dance. He has performed for several choreographers, including Germaine Acogny, Ketty Noël, Mohamed Toe and Gabi Glinz. His career has been marked by his encounters with Mark Tompkins and Vincent Motsoe, as well as Guillaume Siard of Ballet Preljocaj, with whom he refined his technique and completed his training as a dancer. Timothé Ballo has performed in numerous creations including “Bougouri” by Anouska Brodacz, “Bintou Were, l’opéra du Sahel” choreographed by Germaine Acogny and Flora Thefaine, and “Zones humides imaginaires” by Ketty Noël. As an intern he participated in the rehearsals of Angelin Preljocaj’s “Blanche neige” and the creation of “Suivrons mille ans de calme”, along beside dancers from the Bolchoi Ballet and the Preljocaj Ballet. He dances with the GUID (Groupe Urbain d’Intervention Dansé) of the Preljocaj ballet. Co-founder of the Nyaga company with Hannah Wood, he created and danced “Entre nous…”. A laureate of “Visas for Creation” 2010, he presented his solo “Mon secret” at the Ballet Preljocaj and the National Choreographic Centre of Orléans following his artistic residency there, performing it various venues in France and abroad. In 2014, following a commission from the CCNO, he created and performed “là où tu es”, presented at the Frac Centre d’Orléans for Cultural Heritage Day. From August to October 2018 and from April to May 2019, he performed in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute or the Mother’s Song”, directed by Romeo Castellucci, orchestrated by Antonello Manacorda and choreographed by Cindy Van Acker, presented at the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie in Brussels and at the Opera de Lille in France. In December 2018 and September 2019, he interpreted the character of Ethiopian Abebe Bikila, the first black African marathon runner to win the Olympic Games, by running barefoot through Rome in 1960, in a piece combining drama, dance and music, based on the book “Vaincre à Rome” by the writer Sylvain Coher, with Théâtre Charbon, directed by Thierry Falvisaner and presented at the Théâtre Gérald Philippe in Orléans. In November 2019, he was invited by Josef Nadj to dance in Nadj’s new piece, which began touring in June 2020. Timothé Ballo holds a French state diploma, DE (Diplôme d’Etat) in teaching of contemporary dance.

Spectacle

Prémices by Simon Dimouro
Tuesday 22 March, 10pm
at the Théâtre d’Orléans

Simon Dimouro
was born in 1990 in Tours. He started hip hop dancing at the age of 10. Eager to consolidate his technical skills and to develop new artistic aptitudes, he joined the professional training program of the Rêvolution company (the premier training centre for hip hop performers in France) in Bordeaux at the age of 21. In his first year, he was spotted by Anthony Egea, artistic director of the Rêvolution company, who hired him as a performer for an international tour with the show Urban Ballet. Driven by his expanding curiosity, from 2013 onwards he participated in creations that were as atypical as they were eclectic, joining the X-press company, the Ridzcie, the Faizal Zeghoudi company, the Karine Saporta company, the Next Zone company (Copenhagen) and Mourad Merzouki’s “Repertoire” project. Inhabited by a need to create, at the age of 22 he signed the first part of a solo “Rencontre”. He asserts his singularity by creating a hybrid, delicate, musical and instinctive choreographic universe. In parallel to his activity as a performer, Simon Dimouro decided to found the company Entité in 2015 and became an associate artist at the Francis Poulenc Conservatory in Tours from 2015 to 2017. Since 2019, he has been involved in various projects including working in schools with the Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours, directed by Thomas Lebrun, as well as with the Centre Chorégraphique National d’Orléans, directed by Maud Le Pladec,. He is the first dancer to introduce Hip Hop dance at the Francis Poulenc Conservatory in Tours and at the Orléans Conservatory.
