"For me, the figure of the majorette conjures up different realities, from the quasi-military parade in the street to the music played by a brass band and the parade costumes in shimmering colours and sequins, with stylised hats, a far cry from the more recent gymnastic form of Twirling bâton. (...) I recently met the Major's Girls of Montpellier, a group of fifteen women with an average age of 60. Josy, the president, started majorette at the age of 15 in 1964, in this club created by her mother, and today she writes the choreographies. It's not a history of majorette that is taking shape, but their stories, through their accounts, the tournaments they have won in France and abroad, their friendship of more than 40 years, between the enthusiasm of their youth and their maturity today."
