Simon Feltz

With Grains, a creation for six performers, Simon Feltz continues to explore the relationships between language and body. He focuses his work here on the progression of linguistic and bodily interaction in a very specific time interval: that of the carnal encounter. When physical contact increases between partners, linguistic communication decreases until it almost disappears in favor of a more instinctual mode of communication aimed at signifying pleasure. This permeability from one mode of communication to another constitutes the heart of this creation. As the performers’ bodies get closer, their vocal scores transform. Letting the Language fade to abandon itself to contact with the other, the bodies of the dancers are nothing more than a wave, that of words breaking on the reef of enjoyment.
